- How much is MobileSheets and where can I get it?
- There is both a paid version of MobileSheets as well as a free version. The paid version is $4.99 and can be found here. The free version has ads and a limited size library, but is fully functional. It can be found here.
- MobileSheets does not show up on the Android market for my tablet, or it says that my tablet is incompatible when it meets the minimum required specifications. How can I get it?
- For some reason, some tablets are considered incompatible on the Android market even though they can run the software without any problems. This issue seems prevalent with tablets running Gingerbread. For users experiencing this problem, you can download MobileSheets from SlideME or Amazon, and MobileSheetsFree from Amazon as well.
- Can I transfer files from my PC into MobileSheets?
- You sure can! The easiest way is to use the MobileSheets Companion, which can be found on the downloads page. You can also just transfer files from your pc to tablet, and then import those files into a new song in MobileSheets.
- What file types are supported?
- PDF and all android supported image types (.jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp).
- Where can I get sheet music/guitar tablature/etc?
- The best source for free classical music is the International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP) at imslp.org. If you are looking for popular modern music, check out sheetmusicplus.com, freehandmusic.com, sheetmusicdirect.com, musicnotes.com, sheetmusicscore.com, or everynote.com. CD Sheet Music from halleonard.com is a great source of scanned classical music conveniently available on CDs. Guitar tablature can be found at sites like www.ultimate-guitar.com. If you have a collection already though, the easiest way is to either scan your own sheet music, or use the built-in tablet camera to take pictures. All you need to do is take a screen shot of the tab, crop it in a photo editor (optional), and you are good to go. You can also often find free arrangements from people for modern music.
- How do I transfer my songs from the free version to the paid version?
- First, backup your library using the backup feature under the Settings screen. Then, use the restore feature in the paid version, and select the .msb file you saved out.
- Will I lose my library if I uninstall MobileSheets
- Uninstalling MobileSheets will remove all private image and audio files. In order to save your library, use the backup feature, and save out to a .msb file that can loaded at a later date. This is accessible through the Settings screen.
- How do I take screenshots with my tablet
- Every tablet is different, so the process may vary. With an Asus Transformer, for example, you have to enable screenshot mode by going to Settings->Screen->Screenshot. Check the Settings for your tablet, and refer to your specific tablet's documentation.
- How well does MobileSheets handle big files? How about big setlists? How about a huge library?
- MobileSheets scales fairly well with file size. Testing was done with 700 page PDF documents, and the time it took to load the documents was very fast. MobileSheets loads image files even faster than PDF, so even very high res images load quickly. Setlists containing a lot of PDF documents will start to be noticeably slower to load. To combat this, a maximum of ten pdfs will be loaded in the background, and if you reach a song that isn't loaded, it will load it on the spot with a minor delay. No extra loading is necessary with image files, so setlist size shouldn't affect MobileSheets much in that case. MobileSheets uses a fast database to store all of the song metadata, so even extremely large libraries have minimal impact on load/access times.
- How do you deal with repeats (D.S./D.C.)?
- MobileSheets has support for link points. This allows you to touch a spot on the screen, and it will jump to whatever page you set. In addition, a colored circle will flash to indicate where you should start playing. If you are using image files, you can also use duplicates of pages so that you are always turning to the next page (the page order might be 1, 2, 3, 1). This has the benefit of working well with wireless pedals and hands free playback.
- Why does the page slider slow down?
- The page slider is affected by the preview window rendering. If the delay bothers you, you can disable the preview window in the settings.
- Is there an iPad version planned?
- There is no iPad version planned at this time. There are already multiple sheet music readers established for iPad, so it makes little sense to compete with that market. If you have an iPad and need a sheet music reader, check out http://www.forscoreapp.com.
- Is there a way to have hands-free playback?
- MobileSheets has full support for wireless bluetooth pedals for page turning. If you arrange the image files in your songs so that there are no repeat points to worry about, you can have true hands-free playback. In addition, another update will add half page turns in portrait mode, eliminating any delay you could have between pages.
- What types of bluetooth page turners are supported?
- The Airturn BT-105 is tested and are known to work well with MobileSheets, as well as the Cicada PageFlip. Any bluetooth page turner should work though.
- How do I share my songs with others?
- There is an update planned to introduce a new file format for transferring MobileSheet songs. Once this update is released, you will be able to transfer one file that contains all of the metadata for your song as well as any PDF/image files.
- How do I backup my library?
- Go under the Settings screen, and select the Backup Library option at the top. Your entire library will be saved to one file. You can also invoke the backup from the Companion App.
- Can you add a feature I want to MobileSheets?
- Please, feel free to submit all feature requests here. If the request isn't too crazy, it will absolutely be added in a future update.
