What I did is this:
Make a text annotation with background set to "none"
Slide it over existing text of a PDF file.

I was expecting to see is this:
PDF text can be seen behind the text annotation.

What I get is this:
PDF text cannot be seen behind the annotation text block

I get the same affect if I set the background to a color. It seems to me setting the background to "none" isn't working.

Can you please take a screenshot of what you are trying to do and either post it here or send it to mike@zubersoft.com? If I create a textbox annotation in the Windows 10 version, resize it so that it covers text on my PDF and set the color to none, I still see the text underneath without any problems. I'm testing this with version 2.8.6. Which version are you testing?
