The last time I embarked on a sheet music scanning project, I concluded that 300dpi grayscale TIFFs, cleaned up, cropped manually, and CutePDF (Ghostscript) "printed" to a 144dpi .PDF worked best for me. Was I wrong for MobileSheets purposes? I honestly can't remember why I liked the grayscale result better than black/white. If it makes a difference, assume I'll be using a Surface Pro 7 12.3" tablet. Thanks.
