EMR button problems & Input Mode - ArchDuke - 07-23-2025 MobileSheets Hello dear MobileSheets community, atm I’m testing the MobileSheets version for eInk Tablet using a Boox Note Max. I’m considering getting the paid version but right now I’ve got one problem and one question. The problem is the behaviour of the eraser button on my EMR stylus. Pressing it enables the eraser as expected. But quite often it won’t change back to the regular pen, so I need to go to the toolbar and tap the button for the pen. I’ve done a quick search in the forums and found something about „air actions“ (with Samsung S-Pens?) that had prompted changes in the behaviour of the eraser button. The solution seems to be to disable „air actions“ on the device. But I don’t have any „air actions“ on my Boox which could be deactivated and I simply want my eraser button to reliably work as in every other app. So that really is a showstopper for me because it breaks my workflow. Right now I’d rather use the normal Notes app on my Note Max. My second point touches the Input Mode. I guess there is a good reason for it to exist but on an eInk tablet I can’t see why there should be a separate mode which needs to be enabled and disabled – again breaking my workflow. Couldn't Input Mode be always enabled but without showing any buttons at all? That’s the expected way on eInk devices that use an EMR stylus and would enhance the ease of use of the app. Since all annotations are made with the EMR stylus, there wouldn’t be any interference with page turns or other gestures. I hope I don’t sound too negative. I like the app quite a lot and would like to buy it. But first, at least the problem with the eraser button needs to be solved, since that is really an annoying bug. Hopefully there’s a solution to that? ArchDuke RE: EMR button problems & Input Mode - Zubersoft - 07-23-2025 MobileSheets can only detect changes to the button press state while the stylus is touching the screen (that's the way the Google SDK is designed). Does the issue seem to occur if you never release the button and lift the stylus? If you release the button before lifting the stylus, does that prevent the problem? It would help to know the nature of the issue. Are you not using the BOOX stylus that came with the device? Is it a third party stylus? The S-Pen is a different beast as Samsung makes a library available specifically for their S-Pen that allows MobileSheets to detect the button changes when air actions are enabled. As far as the annotations editor being separate from the viewing mode, there are technical reasons and also usability reasons. Every user is not going to want to use just the pen tool, so that means there needs to be a UI in order to switch those things. It's incredibly quick to go in and out of the annotations editor though. You can assign a two finger tap to enter/exit. You can have the annotations editor automatically exit after a few seconds without input. Thanks, Mike |
