Unfortunately, no, I didn't add a way to stop the check for the update at startup. Even if I did add it, it wouldn't help you as you are using an older version. I'm glad you found a version that is working for you, but I'm surprised the latest versions have the problems you described.

As a followup, I have replaced my router with a new version, these problems are not appearing, and I'm using the latest MS Companion.
