Creating set lists from album
#1
I have lots of fakebooks each defined as albums. I like to page through an album (book) searching for tunes to add to a practice list. This is more convenient if I load all the tunes so I can go to the next tune without going back to the list. When I find a tune to transfer to the list I hit the list icon on the bottom then the plus sign to add it to the desired set list. But then all the tunes that were loaded get added. How can I page through a book (album), see the tunes so I can try them out and add them one at a time to a specific set list?

CSV import of single songs referencing certain pages of the same PDF full album file can be one possibility to achieve what you want.

My usage is like that:
- I prepare a CSV file for the album PDF
- the CSV contains one line per song, one additional line for the TOC and another one for the full album
- CSV import of "~CJB Fakebook 2.2 C (complete)" imports the complete album that can be paged through
- single songs can be selected one by one during CSV import and handled within MSP for use with setlists, collections and so on
The attached example _CJB_Fakebook_22_C.csv doesn't fully match the free PDF from
  https://www.simplyearlyjazz.com/store/p9...n_2.4.html
as that's an updated version. But it should be good enough to get the idea.
Note that the album PDF is added only once to MSP, all songs referencing it share the same file.

A number of CSV files are already available in the forum here:

If you create additional CSV files for other PDF fakebooks it would be a good idea to add them there.

I have no problem importing pdf files - including the CJB.   What I find inconvenient is that there doesn't seem to be a way to display tunes in a multi-page pdf file so I can try them out on the keyboard and then select one but not another to go to a set list. Instead if you select one, you select them all.  You seem to be proposing that I make selections at import.   But the import process dosen't display the tunes, only the titles.  I must not understand your point. Its not a big deal - its just inconvenient to only add to set list by the title list, not from the tune display.

Simply don't load all at the beginning?

You can still open a song from the album and browse normally to the next one from the viewing window. And if you choose the setlist button only the current open one is suggested to add to the setlists.

P.S. I assume you have created individual songs for the album from your multi-page pdf.

If you have only one pdf with several songs without individual database entries for the album then you first have to create a song/database entry which is quite simple with the snippet function (and you can assign a setlist and other metadata too for the creation IIRC).

Got it!  I didn't have the "load next song" setting in Library settings turned on. Couldn't understand what you meant by "browse normally".  With the setting turned on it does what you described. Thanks for being patient with me.  This software just works!

I have 19 "fake" books loaded.  Everything from blues to standards to Christmas and Broadway.  I can now create setlists for various gigs - sometimes I just page through a book a a gig - since I play solo.
