Restoring Library Files on iPadOS device that were created on Windows OS Device
#1
I recently purchased a new iPad Air M3, and I'm having an issue restoring from or syncing to a back-up file created on Windows OS device (MS Surface Pro, running latest MSPro 3.9.17) onto my new iPad, using MSPro app vrs 3.9.17.  While the library back-up is a big file (3 GB), I don't really think that this shouldn't be an issue, as the file works fine on the MS Surface Pro - but every time I try to sync or restore from the back-up file created on Windows OS device, the iPad app crashes, and either won't start, won't load, or just freezes.

I've tried accessing the back-up library file multiple ways, via OneDrive, via Google Drive, via Local file, via external USB drive - but none of these seem to work as a valid restore document - it seems that no matter the file source, the iPadOS app won't accept the back-up library file, and crashes at start-up.

I've had to remove/reinstall the iPadOS MSPro app multiple times, and as work-around used MSPro Companion app on my Windows OS device to "Extract" the full back-up library file into a folder onto my MS OneDrive, then "Batch Import" it onto the iPadOS app via Companion - which worked, but of course didn't include any setlists or collections, etc.

Even though this "Batch Import" process worked, I still can't sync the iPadOS app to any other external library back-up files.

I've tried also saving the back-up file on my Windows OS device without any "Mobile Sheets Settings", but with no success.

I'm wondering if there are any specific steps or settings to use to create a back-up file saved from a Windows OS device, so that the back-up library file can be used on iPadOS device for "restore" or "sync"?

I've tried from Google Drive, I've tried from MS OneDrive, from local file, and from USB storage, but I keep getting the same issue - the iPadOS app will crash almost immediately on either attempting to start the restore, or when restarting after finishing the restore process.

I've also tried using Companion App on Windows OS device to restore a back-up file onto iPad, but also with no success.

If anyone can advise on specific steps to take to create a backup library file on Windows OS device, that will work to restore library file on iPadOS device, I'd love to know!

It's normally a very simple process when I do this. I create a backup file on my Windows device, upload it to Google Drive, then on the iPad, select Settings->Backup and Restore->Restore Library from Backup, tap "Google Drive", select the .msb file and then the restore proceeds. Everything works fine after doing that.

Given that you are running into so many issues, can you please share a link to the .msb file with mike@zubersoft.com so I can try restoring it on my iPad to see if I can locate any issues? I would really like to help you get past the problems as it's not normally this difficult.

Thanks,
Mike
