In search of a 12-13 inch tablet with a 4:3 aspect ratio
#1
Hi all.

I'm looking for a 12 - 13 inch tablet with a 4:3 aspect ratio. I've been going through these threads and through google searches for days now and still haven't been able to find a large tablet with the 4:3 aspect ratio that is still available to buy new (in the US) or isn't close to a $1,000. Is anyone using the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 or 4? The aspect ratio is 3:2 and I don't know if the difference between that and 4:3 is anything to be concerned with. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. I can't find whether the Good E-reader has bluetooth capability, though. Or whether they're 4:3 aspect ratio. I'm guessing they are but would need to know for sure. And it would be good to have reviews from others. I'm picky, I know.

They are using all same 13.3" E ink Mobius display of 1600x1200 resolution which has 4:3 ratio.
Sadly:
Netronix/GoodEreader has touch screen (including stilus) but has NO Bluetooth.
Onyx Max has Bluetooth but has NO touch screen (stilus only).
Sony DPT-S1 has NO Android and NO Bluetooth.
So I'm still waiting...

Wow. Thank you, otnt. This is the reason why I'm having a challenging time finding the right tablet. It really shouldn't be that difficult...... So still in search of...

I'm still happy with my Hannspree and Apzen (I like Hanspree a little better).  Stylus does not work great. (and I don't use with bluetooth pedal).  But, I would rather get two tablets (for the price) and always have a backup.  (These are Not E-Readers).

Thank you Jeff. Is the Azpen 4:3? The Hanspree isn't available in the US and although I found it on ebay I'd rather get it from somewhere I can return it if there are any glitches in it. I see that the Azpen site does have it on sale right now so I'll look into it.

I think neither are 4/3 (they are 16/10?).  But, it has not bothered me (especially with the cropping option Mike provides in MS).

The big benefit to me is, if you can get them cheap enough, you can get two.  To me having two tablets (with one as back-up) is tremendous peace of mind.  It is worth more than the amenities of a more expensive tablet (and sometime the more expensive tablets have issues too).  I think many of the weaknesses of a cheaper tablet (not as detailed picture, viewing angles, weak sound, etc) are not that important for this use.

There are probably other inexpensive 13 inch tablets to consider.  Just my $.02 for what its worth.

Well, it looks good. Yes, I hope that it has bluetooth capabilities also. And that it's available in the US.

Thanks. I just checked and the Azpen is 16:9.  I do know that we can crop the pages but don't know if it will be as good as if it were 4:3. I've got to look into that.

There's going to be whole new platform of Chromebooks with official Android/Google Store with millions of apps including MS. Samsung Chromebooks Pro and Plus where revealed:
- 12.3-inch displays with 2400x1600 resolution (3:2 aspect ratio),
- Touchscreen with stylus can flip and work as a tablet.
- Ultrathin and ultralight: Weighs 2.38 lbs.(1kg) and measures 0.5"(13mm) thin
- Bluetooth 4, microSD, 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage

Finally some brighter future then crappy 16:9 Azpen or Hanspree.

I am really happy with Surface Pro 4. It has 3:2 aspect ratio, great 12,3 display and now that we have native Windows 10 app I really don't see any cons that might force me to trade it for another tablet.

Tablet: Surface Pro 8,
Other: Strich BT-FP2, USB-MIDI connection to Kurzweil Forte 7

Thanks! Does having it 3:2 bother you at all? I know that it's not as good as having 4:3 but is much better than 12:9.
