Issue With Text File Import Options
#1
Hi, been using MS for a while now and I am currently editing and importing text files that were originally used for years in the GuitarTapp Pro app (this is so much better, thank you!). I have recently upgraded to a Lenovo M11. Slightly larger screen than my previous Android tablet and much faster, in all aspects I have tried so far MS works perfectly, except for two, possibly related issues.

The option for the Title: Guess Title From Filename doesn't appear on the import screen and the Load Song Editor After Import when enabled has no effect, the editor doesn't open and it just takes me back to the library screen. The editor will open when I long press on the song in the library view after import and then choose to open the editor.

I am running Linux on a PC, using a plain text editor to edit the txt files and using ChordPro format syntax. I've tried using the old files from the previous tablet and creating new files, but the behaviour doesn't change. I'm transferring the files via USB to a documents folder and then importing via the System File Browser, importing via the Local File dialogue makes no difference. Use Text Fields During Song Creation is enabled.

Interestingly it worked intermittently, but rarely, on my old Android tablet, also a Lenovo, I had assumed that was due to it being rather old, but on the M11 it has never worked. I have two identical Lenovo M11 tablets and the behaviour is the same on both of them. I have checked file permissions and MS has All Files Access allowed.

It's not a big inconvenience, I just can't figure out why it's not doing it and it would be useful. I'm currently 465 songs into a list of 642, is there a setting I've failed to find?

Thanks

Morning, replying to my own thread as I've discovered something relevant to this issue.

This morning a random song import behaved as it should, with the option for Title: Guess Title From Filename and with the editor opening up after import. Once again I looked at the file permissions etc. but failed to notice anything different, then I noticed that the opening { bracket for the title was missing, so I added it back and did a fresh import of the song, it failed to have the option for Title: Guess Title From Filename and the editor failed to open after import.

I have tested this on several files and using {t:} and t:} as well as {title:} and title:} and the behaviour is the same with all of them, without the opening { bracket it works perfectly, with the bracket and it fails. Obviously this doesn't work for importing as the title isn't recognised by the system when displaying the song and it renders it as plain text with title: in front of it and previously when I've noticed this I've probably just edited the file to make it work and did a file swap, so no re-importing and therefore failed to make the connection.

It's odd and I still have no idea why this should make a difference, but at least I have discovered something that has an effect on it!  Big Grin

Cheers
