Can someone explain best use vs a set list? Could not find detailed explanation.

Collections give you a quick way to filter down your songs to a smaller subset, but still have the filtering capabilities of the library, such as viewing Album/Artist/Genre, etc. This can be very handy if you play in multiple bands and want to quickly change the songs viewed in your library to ones belonging to a specific band.

There is definitely some overlap in how they can be used. Sometimes, it can be nice to group songs that you may never want to load all at once. For example, you could create a collection of your favorites, quickly sort based on these, and then be able to navigate through the list much faster.

Thanks,
Would this be a way of including fakebooks in a large collection without hurting performance assuming the active collection excluded them?

Also note that the new adobe reader works well with fakebooks and allows for fast page lookup. It also allows for annotation of pdfs. There might be a way to use this with MS more directly?

Using a collection to group fakebooks together is definitely a good way to organize your library without the performance penalty of loading them all at once as a setlist. Even if you did put them in a setlist, you can still load individual songs from a setlist, so if that is all you need, it's kind of a wash.

I can't use adobe from within my app. My PDF reader should display annotations that are saved in a PDF, but adding/editing annotations is something I'm currently working on. I know it's taken me far too long to add them, but I've been trying to make the product easier to use with fewer bugs. If there is something in adobe that makes it easier/faster to access pages, let me know and I will try to add it.

Sort by your collection on the main library screen (drop-down on the left side of the screen) and then load a song by tapping on it.

I don't find any sorting feature anywhere.. Sorting set lists or collection would be a nice feature..
. What am I missing?

I'll look into this immediately. I didn't think there was an issue, but I'll definitely verify to be sure.

You can filter set lists by entering text into the search box, but there is no mechanism to filter songs by searching based on what setlist they are part of. To do this, you need to select each setlist to view what songs are in it. If people need a way to filter the songs displayed by setlist, I can add this, but it's kind of redundant functionality...

Conversely, you CAN filter out what songs belong in a collection by selecting a value from the collection dropdown box. This should be right below the source type dropdown on the main library screen. If you are not seeing this, then we have a serious problem...

I just updated to MobileSheets 2.9. Went to my collection, tapped on a song and nothing happens. Double tapping doesn't do anything. Press and hold brings up screen to edit song or remove from collection.
Can you verify that tapping works? I have motorola xoom.
Thx.

I just verified that collections are working as intended. I don't believe you guys are using them correctly based on the current design. There is the collection editor screen, where you can add and remove songs from collections, and I think that is where you are trying to tap. In order to use a collection, on the main library screen, there is a dropdown with "Col:" next to it. This is the collection drop down. Select a collection, and it will filter what is being displayed to only songs belonging in that collection (or artists/albums containing one of those songs). It basically lets you use the library screen like normal, with a smaller subset of songs.

If you all think that it would be nice to be able to load songs straight from the collection editor screen, I can add this, but I think that requires more taps and is slower than just filtering based on a quick dropdown selection.

Your right. Didn't know how to use it. Now I do. Didn't select the filter from the songs menu. Appreciate the help.
