  Filter songs by notes?
Posted by: Cerio - 05-02-2025, 09:46 PM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (2)

I'd like MSP top show only those songs that have a note, but I don't see that option in the "Additional filters" or elsewhere.

I guess it can be done by accesing the DB with an external program, but I'd like to do it whithin MSP. Is it possible?

Thanks!

  Translation error - Dutch
Posted by: fschop - 05-02-2025, 05:32 AM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (2)

To create a bookmark, you can select "Add bookmark" and specify "Capitalize" with values "Nothing", "First Letter"and "Every Word".

When setting the language to Dutch, "First Letter" is incorrectly translated into "Eerste Brief". It should be "Eerste Letter".
Reasoning: The Dutch word "brief" means a letter as sent in an enveloppe by a postal service. It does not mean a character of a word.

Renaming files leads to weird behaviour
Posted by: ronnie - 04-30-2025, 05:33 PM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (4)

Hi all,

first of all, I hope that this question isn't a double, if so please excuse me and just send a link to the correct thread, I couldn't find any fitting ones!

I started cleaning up my library (which is managed by MobileSheets) by renaming files within the app (edit -> Files -> rename files). Most of the time, it works like a charm, but I encountered some issues:

1. I have two songs with file names "Example" and "Example2". I deleted the song "Example" from my library and wanted to rename the second one to "Example" instead. The library always tells me that the file already exists. I double-checked both my library and the synchronisation to Google Drive, the original file "Example" does not exist anymore. Also, I used a program to read the .db file but couldn't find an entry there either. So there seems to be a "dead entry" still remembering the old, deleted file name. Any ideas where I could find and delete that?

2. I have two song files that I renamed to "Song v1.pdf" (original: Song.pdf) and "Song v2.pdf" (original: Song xy.pdf), both of which have the in-app song name "Song". On my android tablet, this is no problem. When I use cloud folder synchronisation (with "only update folder" option) to Google Drive, it asked me which file belongs to which song, which I selected correctly, and both files appeared correctly in the Google Drive folder. Now I wanted to synchronise my Android phone (using "only update device" option), it created three songs: Song v1 was correcty created, Song v2 was created two times, one time with wiped-out meta data, one time with correct metadata but an old file name of Song v2, which was "Song xy.pdf". I have no idea where the information comes from, since this file does not exist in the MobileSheets database on my tablet or Google Drive. A complete reset of the app and new synchronisation did not fix the issue, also a complete wipe and resynch of the Google Drive folder did not help. So again, some dead metadata lying around which I can't find.

I'm super glad for any help I can get! I'm also open to kind of wiping my whole library and re-importing all files with their metadata, so if this sounds like a valid solution, I'm happy for some instructions on how to do that best.

Cheers!

  Incorrect use of "Piece"
Posted by: Geoff Bacon - 04-29-2025, 08:45 AM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (3)

Hi Mike

This is just for info as I can't repeat it (and I'm not bothered for a fix)

Wanted to create a Songlist of a set list tonight
Selected Setlist, 3 dots, menu displayed "Generate Piece List"
Generated the list to Gmail

I'd never seen Pieces before (I typically do this operation once per week)
Went into settings, 'Use the Term "Piece" instead of "song" ' was not checked.

Repeated operation and, this time, the menu said "Generate Song List"

  Androidmanifest.xml

Hi!

When I try to reach OneDrive (for example through the Sync to cloud-function, or in settings from Switch Onedrive-account) I get a long error message about a code that needs to be included in Androidmanifest.xml (see screenshot).

But I can't copy from that wlndow so I don't know what to do with it. I've searched the forum and see that someone had this problem 2021 but it seems like it was solved by an update. I have uninstalled the whole app and reinstalled it, because I thought it might have to do with that it has lost contact with my Onedrive after a password change. But the error is still there.

Maybe I am missing something but I just can't seem to find out what I am doing wrong.

Thanks for the help!

EDIT: I have this problem on my Huawei P20 Pro, but it works fine on my Chromebook.

  csv input question
Posted by: steveg - 04-24-2025, 04:49 AM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (4)

Hi
Forgive a beginners question!

My first go at a csv import. First line was...
title,pages,key,composer,collection

... and composer and collection were the same for all items.
It has imported them all, but not into a collection. Should I have created the collection first?? (I assumed it would create it if it didn't exist!)

Second question - is there a way to delete all 100 of them other than individually? (They are all titled Interlude xx)

Thanks

Restoring on Android (a power user issue)
Posted by: itsme - 04-23-2025, 06:18 PM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (11)

I manage my files myself and I'm trying two things:
1. I changed the subfolder structure of my MobileSheets directory from
d:\HerbertsGoogleDrive\ with fakebooks in d:\HerbertsGoogleDrive\_MobileSheets\Fkbk0\
to
d:\_MSP\ with fakebooks in d:\_MSP\HerbertsGoogleDrive\_MobileSheets\Fkbk0\
2. To copy my data from a Win10 device to an Android device:
instead of synchronizing the subfolder structure with FolderSyncPro and copying the database files manually I'm trying the standard method "backup on Win10 and restore on Android"

for 1. I used db_reloc.pl from Sciurius' MSProTools
This seems to work fine. The new folder structure works as expected, all song files are stored with relative paths as before, see database metadata in mobilesheets_reloc.zip (exported with get_meta.pl from Sciurius' MSProTools)

2. backup & restore shows a strange issue:
After restoring a backup created on a Win10 device on my Boox Tab Ultra C most of the files were restored correctly as expected into the subfolders where they are on the Win10 device, missing subfolders were created correctly. MobileSheets works fine, "Find Missing Files" reports "No files are missing in the library".
But: only most of the files were restored correctly. Some fakebooks are stored in the root of the MobileSheets directory instead of in the subfolder where they were before the backup. This happened only for 3 fakebooks out of about 15, all others are correct.
Here's one of them as an example:

557 Standards_Bb.PDF worked fine, 557 Standards.PDF shows the issue.
Deleting the files on the Boox Tab and restoring the backup again did not help, same behaviour as before.

This is not necessarily a bug in MobileSheets, maybe something's wrong with my workflow. I won't mind changing something or applying a one-time-fix. I'm just clueless as I couldn't understand the difference between files that are stored correctly and files that are in the wrong place.

Search by song title or number?
Posted by: Calliopeguy - 04-23-2025, 02:10 AM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (1)

I would like to be able to search for a song by either the title or an assigned number. Is that possible with Mobilesheets?

  Title formatting only partially works
Posted by: bkinmonth - 04-22-2025, 07:07 AM - Forum: MobileSheets Companion - Replies (3)

Hi, I'm thinking this must be a bug in the Companion. If it did not do any title formatting I would have just assumed that's how it worked, but it seems to do some formatting, meaning there must have been some attempt to make it work Smile . Here is what I am seeing: I have set my title formatting to %COMPOSERS%: %COLLECTIONS% %TITLE% %CUSTOM_GROUPS%

I have a collection called "String Quartet", and I use custom_groups to indicate the instrument. Let's say I add the 4 parts to Beethoven's String Quartet No. 1 in F to my library. The title of all four parts is "No. 1 in F", and the 4 instruments are Violin1, Violin2, Viola, Cello. This works fine in MS and I see:

Beethoven: String Quartet No. 1 in F Cello
Beethoven: String Quartet No. 1 in F Viola
Beethoven: String Quartet No. 1 in F Violin1
Beethoven: String Quartet No. 1 in F Violin2

But in MS Companion, it looks like it is only picking up the first field, my colon (":"), and then the title. I see this:

Beethoven: No. 1 in F
Beethoven: No. 1 in F
Beethoven: No. 1 in F
Beethoven: No. 1 in F

So Companion is picking up %COMPOSER% and the colon, but then losing the rest of my format, and adding the title by default? Or something like that. It's not a huge problem as I can tell what is what in Companion by adding another display column for custom_groups. But it appears that Companion is looking at my format "to some extent", but missing the whole picture.
